I started putting books that I've been meaning to read on hold and suspending them until after the holidays, and I soon had three on hold for January and a couple for February. I kept thinking about the books I'd chosen, and it was the same feeling as when I've ordered something online that I'm really excited about, but it's books that I didn't have to pay for. I'd been down for a bit since the election and finding out a medication I take isn't going to be covered by my insurance and a bad run of insomnia, and I was amazingly cheered up by my holds, so I decided to keep going.
In a couple of days, I had thirty-six books on hold, and all the holds suspended, so that on the first of the month of each month in 2025, I'll have three pre-chosen books waiting for me. (It's possible that some of them won't be available exactly on the 1st, but close enough.) I didn't plan very much except trying to avoid having many very serious, heavy books at once, and I had three scary books for October.
I made screenshots of my hold list and used Google Lens to lift the text. I think I missed a couple of holds, but here's a nearly complete list, since I'm so proud of my holds list.
I've also put in a request for a couple of non-fiction books that I'm looking forward to, and I hope they come in soon so I can read them before New Year's. If they're good, I'll write about them later.
I'm so stoked to have something to look forward to next year. Yay for books and libraries!
I'm too lazy and cold to put in links for all the books, but this is enough info to see if your library has them :)
