I'd thought that five was a short list, but I went back over the last few years, and I've had other short lists. And I'm not a big believer in counting all the pages and titles.
I did consider counting all the books I quit this year, but it made me tired. I feel like I quit as many books as I finished, and that the books I read were evenly divided between new (to me) and re-reads. But I did read more new titles than what's on this list, and liked many of them. These are just my faves.
I've checked out some library holds that I started for 2025, and none of those are re-reads. I won't make myself finish anything that I just can't stand, but I have high hopes. I think my list of books next year will be longer, and I am glad because there are so many books coming out all the time that sound good. It makes me want to break out of my ruts.
Between reading more in 2025 and trying to be more selective before adding to my TBR (like trying to read a sample first), I hope to get it down to a more manageable length. Sometimes when I scroll through it, I can't remember what made me add the title in the first place. We'll see.
